Books have always been great conversation starters. I used to keep all my books hidden away in a cupboard but now, I use a see-through book cabinet where all my books are neatly organized by genre. This makes it much easier to find what I need and has even encouraged my family to read more. There are plenty of other creative ways to display your books:
1. Book Chair: Get a chair with a built-in book alcove at the base.
2. Painted Trunks: Use old trunks, paint them vibrant colors, and store books inside.
3. TV Unit Space: Allocate some space next to the TV for books.
4. High Shelves: Store rarely-read books in glass cabinets near the ceiling.
5. Living Room Partition: Use shelves to create a partition in a large living room.
6. Alcoves: Utilize extra space between furniture to create alcoves with drawers for book storage.
7. Under Stairs: If you have a duplex, convert the space under the stairs into bookshelves.
8. Headboard Shelves: Turn your bed’s headboard into miniature bookshelves for bedtime reading.
9. Door Shelves: Use the space behind an open door for bookshelves.
10. Revolving Bookshelf: Invest in a revolving bookshelf for your living room or study.
11. Bookends: Get some stylish bookends.
You can arrange your books in alphabetical order, by genre, by color, or by size. To take care of your books, dust your book displays regularly, keep books in the sun after the monsoon season to prevent mold, and avoid reading books while eating or drinking to prevent accidental damage. Books can significantly enhance the ambiance of your home and when displayed neatly, they encourage you to read more.
