Many couples around the world are choosing to delay parenthood. The average age range of woman having their first baby has shifted from between 20 and 25, to between 30 and 35. With some women even embracing motherhood in their mid-40s.
There are several reasons why couples are waiting to have children. Some are focusing on their careers, others are trying to strengthen their relationship, and a lot of couples want to achieve financial stability before starting a family. Medical advancements have made it possible for people to have children later in life, with technologies like in vitro fertilization, surrogacy, and egg freezing assisting older couples with difficulties in conception.
There are several benefits of late motherhood. Older mothers are often more emotionally prepared, may have a longer life expectancy, and are generally more financially secure. Children of older mothers also benefit. They often gain intellectual advantages, better education opportunities, and are raised in a more stable environment.
Women should feel empowered to make their own decisions about when or whether to have children, and should not have to follow others’ footsteps or bend to external pressures.
